As a pianist, Jim is comfortable in the worlds of jazz, pop, and concert music. He has performed throughout the United States in venues as diverse as Walt Disney World, the San Francisco Improv Festival, and Kitty Hawk, NC, the site of the Wright Brothers' first flight.

As a composer, Jim writes music that is accessible yet compelling. Whether writing for the concert hall or creating arrangements for theme parks, Jim wants his music to be well crafted, enjoyable, and interesting.

As a teacher, Jim is currently Associate Teaching Professor of Music Theatre at Ball State University, teaching in both the School of Music as well as the Department of Theatre and Dance. Previously, he has taught at the high school and middle school level. He has degrees in theory and composition from Ball State University and Central Michigan University, and a degree in choral music education from Florida State University.
