Farmland
Protection…is a key in the efforts to combat Urban Sprawl
Recently We,(the Farmland Protection Board) were successful
in getting a PDR (Purchase of Development Rights) grant of $476,000 from the State for the Memory Lane Farm , in
Marcellus…..I believe that Farmland Protection is vital in protecting our open
vistas, watershed protection, and also protection from development
pressures. The vote was 12-7, very
disappointing for so vital a program…The Democrat Floor Leader actually said
there is no longer a need for this program because there are no more housing
developments in CNY!!!
We have had several PDR grants in the last two years and I
am actively encouraging as many arms as possible to apply….
I have co-sponsored the endorsement of an expanded Bottle
Bill from the STATE….Non-carbonated beverages now account for 25% of beverage
sales, and billions of plastic bottles and cans that are not recycled …I encouraged
a compromise between Republican and Democrat bills, to produce a 16 vote
endorsement of expanding the bottle bill…..This is also important for our
environment….
